One of my favourite books of all time is The Hobbit.
I remember when I was in primary school and being told that we were going to read it. I don’t think I was particularly enthused about it, until I started reading.
The Hobbit captured my imagination in a way that not many books have done since. I still remember reading it for the first time and falling in love instantaneously with the characters and the setting. I have always said, if i could live in a fantasy world, I would choose to live in The Shire.
I currently have 5 different editions of The Hobbit, including the facsimile edition which was released last year and an illustrated one that I found at a book stall in Bristol.
I had been looking at getting a first edition for a while, but they are so expensive, running into the thousands of pounds. So it was a great relief to find out that they were releasing a facsimile first edition which wouldn’t cost that much!
I could read The Hobbit over and over again and will never get bored of it. It will always have a special place in my heart. I even have a book about ‘The History of The Hobbit’ which I got for Christmas last year and can’t wait to read.
